History

The Pantheon Institute was founded over 30 years ago with the dream of transformative learning through immersive exploration.

The Pantheon Institute in Rome evolved from The Penn State “Sede di Roma” Program in Rome (1988-2009). Initially, the “Sede di Roma” Program was started as a way to expand current architecture curriculum study away opportunities and invest in student learning in on-site and hands-on modalities abroad. At that time only 8 to 10 students per year participated in the program. Since then, we have increased enrollment to more than 150 participants annually, welcoming students from institutions all over the U.S., and now offering a wide variety of advanced architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, Italian language, and a complete liberal arts curriculum.
