Unarchived Found Footage Fest, May 28- June 2
For the second year in a row, the Unarchived Found Footage Festival will showcase a variety of films from professional and student directors. The featured projects all aim to explore new forms of cinematic expressions, mixing live performance, video art, digital installations, panels, talks, and masterclasses. The festival takes place throughout Trastevere at four locations: Cinema InTrastevere, the Alcazar Live, the Spanish Academy, and the Tempietto del Bramante. Street Food Festivals
All summer long, Typical Truck Street Food will host a variety of food festivals sure to entice anyone looking for a sweet or savory treat. First up, the Casal Tidei Street Food Festival (07-09 June), which will offer endless fried regional foods, such as Sicilian cannoli and arancine, Pugliese octopus with burrata, Marchese fried truffle mozzarella, and Tuscan Maremma burgers. Opera in the Baths of Caracalla
Every summer, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma produces spectacular productions of some of Italy’s most favorite operas within the ancient Baths of Caracalla. This season, the magnificent architecture of these Roman ruins will again provide a breathtaking backdrop to Tosca and Turandot, two of Puccini’s most beloved operas. Cinema in Piazza
For the tenth year, the Piccolo America Association, in collaboration with Cinema Troisi, will present a three-months long schedule of films, screened outside in three locations: Piazza San Cosimato in Trastevere, the Casale della Cervelletta in Tor Sapienza and the Monte Cocci park in Valle Aurelia. The summer’s film series will include 90 film screenings that include retrospectives of movie classics by the likes of Ingmar Bergman and Hirokazu Kore’eda as well as modern films like The Whale, by Darren Aronofsky, and Arrival, by Denis Villeneuve. A popular feature of the festival are the discussions with the director. From a complete viewing of all the Back to the Future series to political and social documentaries, to live discussions with directors like Darren Aronofsky and Kenneth Lonergan.
